Bulk LEGO

Buying LEGO does not always have to be expensive with a little imagination. Of course it is easier to buy a set and follow the instructions to get a clean looking model. Most the time these sets my son leaves together for a while then gets integrated into other sets or broke apart a little as part of a scene. We picked up a generic set of bricks from Costco because per brick they were pretty cheap with a wide variety of color and came with some small build ideas. It was divided by color hues and at first I wanted to keep it this way. Soon after some building and fun it was apparent this was not going to be the case. We also said dismantle the sets and put back the pieces when you are done, for the most part this went as planned but did allow them to keep one model. The great thing about this was seeing what they decided to build and come up with, even though they were not the most stable or fancy models. Fast forward a bit and we recently bought a bulk lot of used LEGO. Little bit of a risk as it was fairly cheap but no real guarantee of what you get or necessarily how clean. After some research on cleaning methods, I'll go into another day, we dug into what we had. I was more into finding complete sets, which were a couple, and my son more into building his own thing. Will say the hunt was fun along with excitement of being able to free build without worry of a purchased set being torn apart with little chance to ever be put together again. Compared to the sets we were able to make the time taken to search out the pieces and lack of ability to choose which ones they are would have likely been cheaper to buy what we wanted. Overall for us it was worth while but if searching through pounds of LEGO is not your thing may be a pass. Thank you for taking the time to read and hope your dad game levels up.
