Kid screen time

Hope you had a safe weekend. Today I want to touch on screen time mainly talking about Amazon FreeTime Unlimited. Discussed a little bit in a previous blog about my kids using Kid Fire Tablets for a variety of purposes. First it is really amazing how fast kids learn to navigate tech. FreeTime has videos, games, shows, etc that are geared towards kids and can be restricted by parents. It is also available on other devices, not just the kindle, so your existing tablet or computer or fire TV can work as well. In the beginning majority of the content my kids downloaded were books and shows they recognized. Games did not take long there after and still years later entertaining them. Granted the games and apps they are using have changed a bit but that is the good thing about this, no need to buy something new just evolve as they grow. It is still a good mix of watching a show and playing a range of games from simple to a bit more complex. Currently we are on the monthly plan for three dollars but there is a one year subscription for up to four kids for only $69. Cost to use time is very low on this and for four kids seems an easy purchase. We also got them headphones to keep the overall noise level down and reduce the fights over not wanting to hear what the other is listening too.

On a note of health concern, I have gotten my kids fairly used to taking eye breaks every 20-30 minutes. Simple has stopping, staring out the window for the count of 20, and getting some water. Then try to keep play time to a hour or so depending how much time I need to get another task done. Thank you for taking the time to read and hope your dad game levels up.
